Not limited to high school?

I ran into a former coworker (from 20 years ago) online.  This person and I were pretty tight and when person left, it was pretty devastating.  Through the years, I often thought about person wondering what life was like and where life took her/him.

Naturally, when I saw person online, I was pretty excited to catch up.

Person didn't seem to remember me.  Granted, we age, life moves to many things over the years, but to forget someone you've bonded with is something I just don't understand.  After speaking about things, person said "I think I do remember you".

That's a way to deflate someone's ego.

I was on a mission to try and remember some specifics so person would remember me.  I used to write frequently.  Journaling was always a great outlet for me and I do remember writing about this person.  My mission was to find where my journals were and to find specifics.

Anyway, I read through many of the books and so much came back to me.  That was a strange time period.  As a young 20-something, I laughed in horror at the drama that surrounded me, but at the same time, it all made me smile.  It was a pretty good time in my life back then.

I decided a reunion of us former coworkers needs to happen.  I set out to find coworkers I hadn't seen/talked with in 20 years and sent them messages.

No response.  Not even a fuck off.  These are people that were FRIENDS back then.  These aren't people who were casual acquaintances. I mean, why would I try and contact someone I never cared for?

Again, I don't understand people.  Most of the people I am in contact with already were good with this, but but no response from those I sent messages to.

Blows my mind.  Just completely blows my mind.  Are people REALLY that shallow?
